AITA: For Wanting to See My Grandma?

A Fairy Tale Retelling of Little Red Riding Hood by AR DeClerck

RedHoodie asked: My grandmother is eighty-nine years old. She lives alone, and she lives pretty far from town. Every now and then, I make the trek out to Granny's house and take her some muffins and other baked goods and I check on her to make sure she's all right.

Last week, I put on my favorite red hoodie (a gift from my Granny) and grabbed my basket of goodies. I listened to my mother who gave me two pages worth of instructions about how to stay safe on the trip, and then I headed out toward Granny's house.

About halfway to Granny's, a very hairy guy steps out into my path and asks me where I'm going. Now, I don't like being rude, but I simply said "to Granny's". I bid the stranger farewell and took off.

I arrived at Granny's house just before sunset. I was surprised to see Granny already in bed. But given she's eighty nine, I figured it was just an early night. Granny seemed different, but I hadn't seen her in a while. I guess I started to notice that something was off when I noted that Granny's arms seemed awfully thick in her nightdress. I said, "Wow, Granny, have you been working out? What big biceps you have!" and she said, "All the better to hug you with!" I have always loved Granny's hugs. Then I noticed that Granny's ears looked awfully big. "Wow, Granny, what big ears you have!" She said, "All the better to hear you with!" and then I said "Wow, what big teeth you have!"

Let me just ask this. AITA for bringing up things about Granny's appearance like that?

Funkid3 replied: Girl, how rude! Your Granny been around 89 years. Let her look how she wanna look.

Pops3212 replied: It never hurts to give honest and thoughtful criticism, but be nice about it.

Woodcutter 222 replied: GET AWAY FROM HER THAT IS NOT YOUR GRANNY THAT IS A WOLF WHO WANTS TO EAT YOU UP!

NotAWolf333 replied to Woodcutter 222: You shouldn't go around accusing people of nefarious plots! That's so uncool.

MamaDoneTolYou replied: Red, you have five minutes to apologize to your grandmother before your uncle Jack hears about this!

Original Poster RedHoodie replied: Thanks everyone! Sad to say, Woodcutter 222 was right and that was not my Granny. I guess the lesson here is, trust your gut and not the wolf who ate your Granny. Namaste.
